Do We Need to Reimagine Education?
The short answer is YES! In my opinion, the education system needs to be adjusted to better fit a broader range of diverse students. Students are funnelled into one system, and are expected to understand and learn through one way of teaching. Not everyone learns the same way, and expecting our students to do so is setting them up for failure. Our education system is more focused on pushing students through, without actually focussing on learning and understanding concepts and material. This can be extremely detrimental to a student’s confidence, and their willing to learn. I remember when I was in elementary school I struggled immensely with math, and I was never given the proper amount of time to really grasp the lessons. I would be forced to carry on and move forward because that was my job, but I was never able to learn properly because of all the pressure.
What Obstacles do Educators Face When They Try to Change Pedagogy?
Obstacles they may face can be a large range of things: Time/Planning is one. It can be extremely time consuming to put in the work and effort to do so. It also takes an extensive amount of detail to be able to really lay out the changes that need to be made. Another obstacle could be not having enough support within the school system/from their admin/other staff. This could be problematic to not have your admin on your side, it can also create lots of problems within your school and make your job a lot harder.
What Concerns or Excites You About This Approach?
What excites me is being able to make a difference in students lives, and to be able to provide support and an open learning environment! I want to be able to foster an inclusive classroom for all my students so that they feel comfortable to learn at whatever pace they feel is best for them.
What concerns me is that I will face many obstacles along the way, especially as a new teacher. I do not want to rock any boats, and want to have the support of my admin and other teachers. I also have learned how busy of a career teaching is already, so I know it would take up a lot of my extra time.

I really enjoyed this post! I relate to some of the concerns you have about not wanting to rock the boat once we are new teachers. As well as the time it takes to make a change. I worry as well about not having the energy to go the extra mile for my students. I hope to have the energy to put in the extra time to fit all students diverse learning needs. Great post!!
